A Grange is a local chapter of the National Grange, a farm fraternal order formally called the Patrons of Husbandry. From the 1800s it organized rural communities around cooperative buying, social life and advocacy for farmers. Massachusetts still has active Granges, and the South Middleborough Grange Fair is run by one. That makes it a different kind of organizer from a county agricultural society, though both are nonprofit and community-run.
