Cattle show

A judged contest that scores cattle against a breed standard.

A cattle show is a judged competition in which cattle are evaluated against a written breed standard for conformation, structure and condition. The animal is the entry, which is the reverse of a showmanship class, where the handler is. Cattle shows are one of the older events on a Massachusetts fair schedule, tied to the dairy and farm economy the agricultural societies were chartered to support. Animals are part of 23 of the 96 events, a smaller share than food at 78 or crafts at 52.
