Carnival

A carnival, in the Massachusetts fair sense, is a multi-day community celebration built around a parade, performances and costume. It sits outside the agricultural-society tradition behind most county fairs, and livestock judging and a premium book are not part of it. Provincetown Carnival, produced by the nonprofit Provincetown Business Guild, is built around a free parade down Commercial Street. Many other fairs have a parade as one program item inside a broader agricultural or cultural program.
